Had the great fortune to travel with friends to Thailand. These images are a set of two, this second set from Chaing Mai, an amazingly cultural side of Thailand.
Flying from Phuket, we then began our second leg of the journey, in Chaing Mai! :D And I have to say, the time spent here was definitely magical. While Phuket is quite famous and touristy, there something quite traditional and cultural about Chaing Mai. It's quite a beautiful place.
We were also quite lucky to meet Udom, a taxi driver on our trip from the airport to our hotel.. who would then be our guide for the next 3 days we stayed there. And he definitely knew all the awesome spots to check out! :D
We stayed at De Naga Hotel, which was quite a uniquely designed place! Quite the pleasent experience. :)
Some seriously intricate designs at this hotel!
First Thai Massage ever.. And by back sure reminded me of that for a while to come..
Out and about in the city by night. :)
Such a curiously amazing skill, making flowers out of soap, being hand painted and put in these little lovely boxes.
This place was pretty neat! :D
Ahhh so cute and playful! :D
Ready to pounce.. Honestly this was a frightening sight.
This was an amazing experience!
These cubs were adorable! :)
Lunch.. while we watch the tigers play.
We then continued on to the Golden Temple.
When in Rome.. I guess. :P
It's quite inspiring to see their faith. :)
Such a cute fella! :D
The steps to Doi Suthep.
3 +1 Happy Bhuddas
Sun flare :)
End the night off with a cheese base pizza! :D
.. and finally get the opportunity to ride the elephants! And that too, bare back.
Bathing the elephants was one of the funnest experiences! They're such intelligent and playful beings! :)
And then headed to the Cotton Factory. Learning about how it's made.
And finally went to the silk factory, to learn how that's made.
Generations of design artists, don't need any helper tools like rulers.
A classic old machine we found sitting around the restaurant that night "The Whole World"
And off we go on another adventure! This time to an area even further north of Chaing Mai. To Chaing Rai
First stop, hot springs. :)
And we reach the White Temple of Chaing Rai.. This is some seriously amazing architechture and detail.
Quite the creepy vibe on the outsite..
It's an interesting story.. From what I understand, it's seems like a highlight of how there's evil in the external world, and the guardians on the bridge stop evils sprits from passing. And this bridge is a one way track, people aren't allowed to walk back.. Just the same way spirits can't come back from this bridge.
A dire situation.. Quite explicit imagery.
The guardians of the bridge, keeping unworthy spirtits out.
Ying Yang! :D
Getting photos with the architect.
Ladies in the Long Neck tribe can wear about 4kg around their neck in these springs..
